What happens during a tech help visit

Letting someone new into your home can feel like a big step. Here's exactly what to expect, from the first phone call to the end of the visit.

Before the visit

You (or a family member) call, text, or book online. I'll ask a few simple questions about what's going on. Then I'll tell you the price and we'll pick a time.

I call the day before to confirm. If anything changes, just let me know.

Things to have ready

  • The phone, tablet or computer you need help with, and its charger.
  • Your glasses, if you use them.
  • Any passwords you've written down. You'll type them yourself.
  • A list of questions, if you have one. Don't worry if you don't.

During the visit

  1. We sit down and talk. You tell me what's bothering you, in your own words. There are no silly questions.
  2. We fix it, your way. I can fix it for you, or show you each step in plain English so you can do it yourself. Your choice.
  3. We practice, if you'd like. If you want to learn it, we go over it again until it sticks. If you just want it working, we skip this step.
  4. You get a written note. Simple steps on paper, or by email to you or your family.

When you need to type a password, I look away. I never write down or keep your passwords, and I never touch your banking.

How long it takes

A single visit is up to 1 hour for $75. If we need more time, I'll ask you first. Extra time is $35 per half hour, and only if you agree.

Can family be there?

Yes. A son, daughter or friend is welcome to join in person or by phone. Weekday evenings are kept for visits booked by family.

Ready when you are

Call with any questions, or pick a time online.
